Aerial Escapades Retreat

When:
Arrival Day: April 30th, 2017
Retreat: May 1st – May 6th, 2017
Departure day: May 7th, 2017

Includes 6 days of aerial classes with Paper Doll Militia, 7 nights accommodation, all food provided (including smoothies, snacks and desserts!), open kitchen for private use (coffee, tea, etc…), all retreat excursions, and transportation from Evrenseki Kavsagı to TADAH.

What to Expect:
This retreat is designed for students of aerial arts at any level. We have multiple instructors so that we can divide level groups when necessary, to make sure each participant gets the attention they need.

Our schedule includes:
• Morning aerial yoga
• Focused workshop time on silks/rope, hoop,and trapeze with Paper Doll Militia instructors
• Home cooked, organic, vegetarian meals, enjoyed together in a community setting
• Open training times and skillshare time in the amazing aerial training space, with wood floors, mirrors, and tons of natural light
• Handstand, conditioning, and flexibility classes
• Creative improv sessions
• Excursions to the beach, canyon, river, and even ancient ruins!
• Relaxation time by the beautiful gardens and natural swimming pool

About TADAH:
TADAH Artist Habitat is a retreat center and permaculture project dedicated to performance arts. The philosophy is based on both respecting and enjoying nature while flourishing as artists.The beautiful movement and aerial studio is the heart of TADAH.
TADAH believes that, like a plant expresses its upcoming fruit with its flower, a human expresses themselves through art. And again like a plant needs earth, water, sun and minerals to fulfill its growing process, an artist will bloom beautifully when the right conditions are provided. Retreats at TADAH are an alternative to the old concept of artists living in big cities, getting inspiration from city life. This habitat is for an artist who breathes fresh air, eats healthy food, gets vitamin D from sun while training and blooming their very own flower which will eventually become another fruit to feed the human soul.

Paper Doll Militia’s innovative approach to choreography and poignant use of theatricality have gained the company the reputation of being pioneers in original aerial theatre. Referred to as “The sophisticated circus of now” (Edinburgh Review), their pieces seamlessly weave dynamic physicality, aerial arts, and visual theatre. They emphasize the mixture of modern and vintage mediums as well as invented aerial apparatus to create their signature aesthetic; dreamy, whimsical, and dark.

Paper Doll Militia was formed in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2006, and is currently based in Los Angeles and Edinburgh, Scotland. The company creates new work and runs community programmes based in aerial arts education and mentorship. Paper Doll Militia has a unique approach to aerial instruction which facilitates students of all levels in untapping their authentic creativity.

The company’s teaching style is a mix of attention to technical precision alongside stylized interpretations and creative movement.
